The initial brief included the relocation and expansion of the gaming and dining areas. Before commencing design we conducted a review of future development options to ensure our final design was consistent with the club’s long-term requirements.
The inclusion of a northern deck as an external dining area allowed integration of the play areas with the internal club. A new high-level roof with extensive glazing to the north, improved the architectural presentation while providing natural light.
This lower level started on the southern side rising to a high level on the north side created architectural interest while maintaining sensitivity to the existing residential areas. The reorganization of the internal layout, connecting the south and northern sides through public areas and significant openings in external walls, allowed effective natural ventilation and lighting. This reduces air-conditioning requirements and energy consumption in the cooler months.
Due to the budgetary constraints economical, low maintenance, hard-wearing finishes such as timber look vinyl flooring, modular carpets and feature walls of laminated panels were used. The resultant space has a contemporary fresh feel, with considerably more space for public functions, while retaining a comfortable atmosphere for existing long-term patrons.
